Hi and welcome to my knife making web page. I will try to keep this short and
sweet. My name is Tom Mcluin from Dracut, MA and I have been making knives
since 1989. Like most makers, I started with old files and saw blades until I
learned about heat treating and the different steels to be used. I am primarily self
taught with the exception of help from Bill Saindon on the making of folders, and
asking lots of questions of other makers at knife shows. There was very little help
for new knifemakers on the web then. I make all kinds of knives but like to make
folders the most. I use the best materials for handles, bolsters and blades. I make
my own Mokume and buy my Damascus from people who know how to make it
best. I do all my own heat treating which I feel is the heart and soul of any knife,
and gives me more control over the finished product. For this process I use a
Paragon digital furnace and have an Ames hardness tester. All my fixed blade
knives come with custom fitted leather sheaths made by me. In my folders I use 6
thousands thick bronze spacers on either side of the blade for a nice close fit. The
fit and finish have to be exact or it does not leave my shop. Many of my knives
feature extensive filework. All my knives are sole authorship with the exception
of the Damascus, and any engraving or scrim.
LIFE MEMBER.
All my knives come with a 7 day inspection period. If you are not happy with it send it back and get a full refund minus shipping.
Special Note.. Due to someone stealing my pictures and claiming to have made my knives and stands all
pictures will have a watermark.
